Any holiday that honors people who have served in the military is one of my favorites. Because no matter what’s going on in my life – good, bad or challenging – it’s a time to stop and take a moment to really think about what other people have sacrificed so that I have freedom.
When we were in Charleston, we had my favorite meal of the day, brunch, at Eli’s Table. After our mimosas and french toast, we walked Nilla down to one of the main streets where a parade was going on in honor of Veteran’s day. It was moving to see the floats and decorations, but the sweetest part was when people in the parade came out into the crowd and hugged men and women who were wearing military shirts or hats. To see strangers hugging like that was pretty powerful. (and reminded me of the first scene
from one of my favorite Holiday Movies, Love Actually
This dress from Banana Republic is a great piece for this fall and winter. It’s SO chunky without being frumpy and at 40% off gets my vote for the best cost/comfy/pretty/practical ratio (yeah, that’s a real equation).
A big THANK YOU to all the men and women who have served in our Military and Happy Veterans Day!
