The Perfect Martini

IMG_0031

Lately I’ve become a martini drinker. Who knew? But let’s break this down – I love a good glass of wine, and it’s always my drink of choice but sometimes a girl’s gotta mix it up a bit. Enter stage right: all the cocktails of the world, and bring out the hook for all the cocktails packed with sugar….. basically all of them. What’s left? A gin and tonic with lime and oh, what’s that… a martini.

I feel pretty “mad men-esque” when I order one of these. And yes, I say “I’d like a dirty martini..” It’s simple, and to the point, and I like simplicity in any form. A martini is always the only drink that is required because it doesn’t taste like a sucker (unless you get an apple tini, of course) and therefore you take the smallest of sips throughout the whole dinner or girls night out.

The spill factor is pretty high though, so maybe keep this in mind for more subtle gatherings or places where you definitely have a seat, a table, and at least an hour. A bachelorette party would not be the time to order one of these since it will most certainly end up on the floor and all over your dress the first time someone runs over to hug you and catch up after not seeing eachother for 6 months. haha Here’s how to make one at home…

2.5 ounces of gin or vodka (I prefer vodka) // .5 ounces of DRY Vermouth // .5 ounces Olive Juice // one olive

combine ingredients with large ice cubes in the Martini Shaker

place one ice cube in the martini glass to chill the glass while you are fixing the martini

sphere ice mold // lilac poncho (c/o) // martini glasses // martini shaker (received as a wedding present – we twist the shaker for it to display different drink recipes and I secretly love the invention because there’s no need to google the recipe, find it on pinterest or in a cookbook )

I am still loving these beautiful flowers from FTD Flowers! They are stunning and have lasted so long! I remember growing up my dad would send my mom flowers randomly or for any special occasion. Also, when I worked at a law firm there was a girl who would send them to herself #ballerstatus…. Maybe I should start sending them to myself too or drop a few hints to DT… haha

Thank you so much for reading and have a great day!
