Last weekend David and rode up to Charlottesville, Virginia. We made a pact to go more often after only going once our first year in Chapel Hill. It’s just a three hour drive so why not?? We stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Charlottesville, the Oakhurst Inn.
The rooms were luxurious and cozy and I loved being greeted with a bucket full of glass bottle diet cokes! Yes please! I also LOVED this hotel’s shampoo and conditioner… it’s the little things. But seriously they were spa worthy, as were their robes. Good robes, good toiletries, and good coffee are all I need for a luxurious stay and The Oakhurst Inn had them all. I loved David brining me espresso every morning from the hotel’s nesresso machine with all different flavors. David couldn’t get enough of their fully stocked fridge with Sparkling Lemon and Orange San Pellegrino.
The first night we ate at Red Pump Kitchen which was divine! I LOVED the ambiance and we both LOVED the food! Assorted cheese and wine, prosciutto pizza, and gelato for dessert. mmmmmmm It was a perfect date night and it’s right on the mall.
The next day we went to Trump’s winery (GASP!) and Dave Matthews’ winery. They were both beautiful with stunning views. I do think it’s hysterical that they are .5 miles apart and those two people couldn’t be more different. The road up the mountain to get to them was lined with so many trees all the brightest shades of orange, red and yellow. Even though it was drizzling while we were there, it felt perfectly fall and wonderfully cozy. If you visit Charlottesville The Oakhurst Inn would be the perfect retreat. Oh and make sure to eat at Roots for lunch because it was the best salad of my life!
It’s makes me sad to think that David and I could potentially be moving in 8 months. I love Chapel Hill and am so thankful we’ve been able to spend 2 1/2 years here. There are definitely some more East Coast cities we need to hit up in the next 8 months! No matter where we end up I’m so glad that David and Nilla are my travel and life partners.

Love this post and I love Charlottesville! Pippin Hill winery is one I went to while vacationing there. Amazing! And also there is really cute boutique in town called Darling, I think. Glad to have stumbled on your blog.
