Good morning! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I went to the Miss Mississippi pageant with my sister and mom in Vicksburg. It was so entertaining and those girls have some incredible talents – like, WOAH. And I was reunited with David yesterday! We are heading to Oxford today for a few days to celebrate the end of his residency!! Oxford is where he went to undergrad, I went to law school, and where we got married. I can’t wait to relax and visit our favorite spots.
While I was home, we hosted my best friend from college, Hunter, her husband Zack and their little girl, Grace at our lake house for dinner. When it comes to outdoor entertaining, or really any entertaining, nobody does it better than people in the south. Entertaining is truly a way of life here since everyone knows everyone, and people come over all the time!
One key to entertaining is to make it look effortless. But let’s be honest – it’s NOT! I think one way to make it look effortless while still being beautiful is to have GREAT serving pieces. That way I can just throw some nuts, chips, and fruit out, but since its on gorgeous pieces, it looks beautiful but not overdone. I recently started my collection of MacKenzie-Childs and am completely obsessed with this pottery. Their ceramic pieces are hand painted at their headquarters in New York and I know I’ll be using it for years to come. One of my most stylish friends gets pieces from her mom and aunts for Christmas and I think it’s timeless and beautiful. I’m so excited that I’ve started my collection that I know I’ll use for years to come.
We had frozen margaritas in these cups and finished the night by hanging out on the pier. The cups AMAZED me because even in this Mississippi summer humidity, the Margaritas stayed frozen. I love their Flower Market Collection and can’t wait to use those as wine cups and votives for flowers. Their Parchment Check Collection is my favorite and this cake stand had me feeling all the heart eye emoji feelings. It was a beautiful night with friends on a Mississippi summer night.
