Spring Cleaning

Spring_Cleaning

Spring has officially sprung and that means spring cleaning. I really don’t like cleaning. I always tell David that I would rather live in a smaller/underbudget house but be able to splurge on a cleaning service than live in a big house with no cleaning service. I mean, right? Here are my tips for spring cleaning:

  1. Declutter: It’s amazing how much STUFF just accumulates isn’t it? Papers, mail, the free thing they were handing out at the conference, shopping bags, just STUFF. I did a post on really decluttering here. We also have tons of Nilla hair, always. I use the furminator to keep it at bay and the Dyson Ball Animal is probably the best thing we purchased with our wedding credit.
  2. Cleaner SpraySwiffer Multi-surface fabreze spray. This stuff smells AMAZING. I use it in every room and I’ve gotten compliments from 4 different people on separate occasions about the way it smells. It’s with fabreze and not gain. I got the gain version the other day and was literally disappointed when I got home. hahah You know you are getting old when…
  3. Candles: Speaking of scents, these candles from Aspen bay candles are heavenly. Fragrance is the first thing someone notices about a home when they walk in. I LOVE Aspen Bay Candles (I’ve talked more about them here) They are made in my hometown of Starkville, Mississippi and their Maker’s collection smells incredible. Plus I get to reuse the gold vessels after I burn the candle. That’s a win/win. I know candles can be expensive or a luxury, but I think they are actually a pretty inexpensive way to change the entire atmosphere of my house. Rather than buy fresh flowers every week I’ve been “going green” with free greenery from outside and opting for lighting the candles more often.
  4. Greenery: Which brings me to greenery. Since my fiddle leaf fig bit the dust and I don’t want to spend $100 on a plant when we are moving soon, I’ve been opting for fresh (and free) greenery from outside. Some of this stuff lasts SO LONG and I’m loving the guilt-free and beautiful green additions to different rooms.
