Polyvore hosted a meetup party this past Tuesday in New York and it was SO MUCH FUN. Polyvore is a company that is basically like google for clothes. It’s a website where you can search for the exact item you’re looking for. Rather than go to 5 different online stores to look at their “little black dresses,” Polyvore pulls any item you search for to one site. Then you can filter by price, color, size, brand and store. Genius!
Using polyvore to make collages for this blog or just in general makes me feel like I’m Cher in cluless when she’s scanning through her closet on the computer and it let’s her know if it’s a “match” or not. Actually, a lot of the polyvore users at the meetup said they clip the items they have in their closets and then play around with different ways to wear them in the sets that you make. I’m definitely going to try that.
Another polyvore member and I were picked up from the airport and dropped off at the Soho Grand Hotel – I LOVE this hotel 1) for the location in soho – those cobblestone streets… swoon. And 2) because they are pet friendly! There were dogs hanging out in the hotel which was so cute and they even offered to put a goldfish in my room because I mentioned I missed Nilla. Who knew? A hotel that will put a fish in your room 🙂 haha. I told them thank you but I wasn’t that emotionally unstable and could ride out the trip without the goldfish. The hotel also had such a cool bar area with copper tables and yellow chairs. It’s very boutique with a lot of personality. I would recommend it.
One of the best parts of the trip to me was getting to meet Eva Chen, the Lucky magazine editor-in-chief. She was so nice, down to earth, smart, and of course was dressed very cool in her white t-shirt, orange embroidered knee length skirt and sneakers. Gotta love Eva! She was actually going to be a doctor and went to Johns Hopkins before getting an internship with a magazine which led her where she is now.
Thanks again, Polyvore! For such a perfect party in NYC … here are some of the pics from my trip.

first outing with this Barrington bag and it was great. It looks like calf-hair but is actually very durable vinyl (like longchamp bags but thicker) and fits into the overhead bin. I feel like I should get an award for going to NYC with just carry-on luggage. Packing in one bag is hard!
