Awwwwww snap! It’s back (well t-minus 5 days) – that Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Let’s be honest, it’s going to be SO annoying on Instagram. Every blogger is going to be shilling their favorite items every 5 seconds and sounding like a used car salesman. But you know what’s even more frustrating? “Staying strong” to NOT buy stuff….. and having to see it every .5 seconds. I’ve tried that approach and this year I’m going with the “if you can’t beat’em join’em” tactic. So I’m hopping on board to bring you my advice on the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.
FOUR things you should know:
1.It’s a reverse sale. Normally in the real world, new items start high, then go on sale, then go on clearance, then end up in a dark room in the back of a store and then they are orphaned on the street. This sale is in reverse: Items that are brand new START on SALE, then go UP. Which kind of already puts a dagger in my heart. You watch these items and debate about whether or not to buy them… but then if you wait, you watch that price tag go UP which forces you to sit on the sidelines for the rest of the year because if you didn’t buy it on sale you’re definitely not buying it at full price.
2. Early access 8 day head start. People with early access have 8 days to buy the best things before you do. That’s a lot of riding boots and perfect handbags gone. There are only 2 ways to shop early: The Nordstrom debit card and the Nordstrom credit card. First of all, thank you Nordstrom for making a debit card option. I can’t be messing around with a Nordstrom credit card. It’s financial suicide for me. But the debit card keeps things real. THANKSSSSSSSSSS Nordstrom! But I guess if you are responsible and can pay off a pair of Tory Birch riding boots over 6 months with no interest, do ya thing.
3. Today is the last day to get $10 off if you want to not get early access and just have regular access which starts on July 22. If you give your phone number and name then you get $10 off as well as points when you shop.
4. Have a plan. Let’s be reasonable… you’re not going to buy the whole store, and neither am I, but it would be practical to get in our closets and see what we NEED for fall. Do we need black riding boots? or Brown ones? Or black leggings that we will wear everyday (because the one’s we wore last year everyday are looking rough) Or a new purse because good bags last and last and who doesn’t feel like a million dollars with a new bag? Layering cardigans for the crisp fall air? Anyway… just things to think about.
Let’s brace ourselves for the TONS of instagrams coming our way with #NSale and pick a few quality items to add to our closets.. shall we?
