Good morning! We may already be half way through January but I wanted to share my New Years resolutions with y’all and also have them in WRITING on the INTERNET so I can look back at them from time to time, especially at the end of 2018. Plus, I am definitely a believer that everyday is a new day. So even though I’m a little late to the new-years-resolution-blog-post-game, I think everyday is the perfect time to set some goals and resolutions! So here we go..
First some goals for this blog:
make it better, make it even more real, and more applicable. I recently asked y’all on Instastories what bloggers do that is annoying. Oh how y’all have answered and I love it. One of the most annoying things bloggers do is sponsored posts. In a perfect world, every blogger would only partner with brands he or she LOVES that way even though it is #sponsored, it’s still real advice and their real opinion. I’ve tried so hard to only accept collaborations of brands I know, love, and trust, but I want to be even more picky in 2018. I didn’t start this blog to make money at ALLLL and even though that’s nice, I don’t want that to be the priority. I want the priority to be sharing fun content that we ALL find relevant.
Expand into more verticals – isn’t that such a “blogger” way to say it? haha Basically I just want to include more home decor, travel, fitness, and maybe even cooking into the mix – pun intended.
stop comparing numbers – we’ve all heard it a million times: Comparison is the thief of joy. And it’s so true. In this blog world especially it’s hard not to compare followers or “likes” aka “engagement” – another bloggery term haha but there will ALWAYS be a bigger blogger and there will ALWAYS be a smaller one. I just want to focus on the content I’m creating and remember why I started this blog…
And now for some personal goals:
Stop looking at Instastories so much. Talk about a TIME SUCK. I sometimes find myself just lost in the hole that IS instastories and don’t realize how much time has passed until I look up. I want to be more intentional about focusing on my goals and my life and not watching other peoples’
Decorate our house! I’ve been putting it off because it overwhelms me a bit. But it’s time – even if I have to hire an interior decorator, I’m ready to get some rugs and curtains up in here! And share the entire process with Y’ALL – see goal number 2! haha
stop trying to explain what “I do” to other people – it’s seriously so much work and I’m convinced anyone over 35 will never get it. I need to just say I’m a stay at home dog mom and let the judgement come. hahaha And maybe do a post on how bloggers make money that I can just refer them to when I’m questioned. It would save so much time and I would at least get a page view out of it. In all seriousness that’s the hardest part of blogging to me. I used to be able to say: “I’m an attorney” and people fully grasped it. Now there is no explaining it… and I should just let it go and walk away.
buy more shoes – no explanation needed 🙂
How are your resolutions coming along? I set a reminder in my phone at the end of every month to evaluate how I’m doing and make sure I (hopefully) stay on track! Cheers to Monday! I’m headed to get my second coffee cup!
