Last Friday was match day. I’m sure most people know what that
ceremony is, but basically if you are in your fourth year of medical school it’s the day you walk onto a stage, are handed a card, and announce where “the match” algorithm placed you for your residency. David is going into Internal Medicine so whichever city he announced, we would be moving there for 3 years. For some, match day isn’t that anxiety ridden since they know where they’ll be. But for me it was one of the most nerve-racking and exciting moments of my life because I truly had no idea where we would be moving (the Carolina blue dress was a coincidence and a nod of good luck from the fashion gods haha). When David said “University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill” I wanted to stand on my chair and do sparkle fingers followed by a toetouch. I’m so excited to be moving to a state with all four seasons, a sports team with pretty colors, and a town motto of “kick up your heels.” Really I am just so proud of David. Every time I think about moving I am filled with a sense of excitement – not just about the adventure it will be to be in a new state, but about how proud I am of David for his hard work and for matching into one of the best internal medicine programs in the country.

after the ceremony we had people over for lunch. I used Al’s (my grandfather’s) doctor bag as the centerpiece along with Dr. Steele’s (David’s Dad’s) reflex hammer

Nilla was worn out from the big day
we celebrated all weekend long. I had brunch with all the girl cousins the next morning
I have never even been to Chapel Hill, so David and I are taking a road trip today!
We are going to spend the weekend scouting possible places to live and just seeing the town we are about to spend the next 3 years in! All information, suggestions and advice is welcomed!
