My sister’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago and this was my gift to her. Jenny and I first saw these house paintings in Whitney Staggers Thompson’s house in Greenwood – she had gotten her childhood home painted as well. I have seen them in a few other houses and think they are a unique and special piece of art to hang. So much so that my mother and I ordered ourselves a painting of 1203 Nottingham Road too. Home is where the heart is, but I do feel lucky that I got to spend years 5 through 26 (let’s account for law school) calling this house my “home.” Angie did a really wonderful job and I am so grateful! When I pass this painting sitting on my couch end table (because I haven’t figured out where to hang it quite yet) I think of our lemonade stand we set up in the front yard, playing “wedding” and using the long sidewalk as our isle, and Christmas mornings in the piano room, as well as plenty of fights in the playroom with Jenny and Cameron. Thanks, Angie, for this sentimental and pretty piece of art! Here are a few other pictures from the weekend in Birmingham.
