Last weekend my family was in town and it was so much fun. I’m not that sentimental about material things, but I am very nostalgic. I miss being around my family so much and living in North Carolina definitely limits our time together. David and I have often said that’s the only thing we don’t like about Chapel Hill – how far away from Mississippi and from our families it is. It was so fun to have them here in our world and just hang out!
I subjected them to my cooking on Saturday night and we celebrated my sister’s birthday. Then Sunday we brunched at Acme and watched the Oscars – thank goodness Leo won. I mean y’all, can you imagine how cold he was filming Titanic. Like, think about that for a second… I can’t even handle when our shower gets cold. I mean, that Titanic water… absolutely not. In the words of every white girl ever “I can’t even.” Then for the Revenant he was freezing the whole time too – like, good grief.. take this gold trophy, put it on your shelf, and put your self under a blanket. What a GREAT closing line of his acceptance speech too: “We should not take our world for granted, I do not take tonight for granted.” Boom. Drop the mic. Cheers to you, Leo. I’ll never let go…
Anyway, after I did my happy dance to celebrate Leo, the next day, Monday, we had a girls spa day at the Umstead (I give it 5 stars) and then went to the UNC basketball game. It’s fun to see how basketball is king here since that’s so different from SEC football mentality. It’s still so strange to me that a lot of my friends here have never been to an SEC football game. I mean, I don’t even like football, but I love going to those. Junction, Grove, whatever… hand me some wine and point me to the tent.
Thank you so much for reading this blog and thank you too, to everybody that came to the J.McLaughlin event last night! It was so much fun! Hope you’ve had a wonderful week and enjoy your weekend!
