Happy Friday. This week went by fast but it did have its down moments. While stopped at a stop light at a very busy intersection my car completely died. And despite putting on my flashers, the 5:30 traffic couldn’t seem to see the flashing lights so there was a symphony of horns blown in my direction. It might have been one of the most embarassing moments of my life. I had to call 5 towing companies before finding one that was available. And when he said it would be 30 minutes I started to cry – the 15 year old “what do I do” type of cry. That lasted for a bit before I had to pull myself together, reign it in and start directing traffic.
Then last night David, Nilla and I were all at home and a huge thunderstorm came through. There was the loudest snap and then a bang. A tree had fallen on our roof. I’m unbelievably grateful that the roof didn’t break. There is just a crack in the wall… and a tree filling up our courtyard. So now the Carrboro Cottage is the Carrboro tree house.
Despite the two bumps in the road, the tree falling on the roof really brought me back to the basics and reminded me how blessed I am that David, Nilla and I are alive and healthy. We all have so many things in life to be grateful for but sometimes forget to take the time to be thankful for them. I’m ending this week with a new mindset and a grateful heart. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend.
