I’ve heard about the Fearrington House Inn since moving to North Carolina two years ago. So when Amy and I decided to have a girls weekend when David and Aaron (her husband) were both working we jumped at the chance for an open room and dinner reservations at the Fearrington Inn. It’s gorgeous, charming, and is 10 minutes from Chapel Hill. I already can’t wait to go back and it definitely gets my vote for best place to stay in Chapel Hill.
It’s a quaint resort chateaux manicured to perfection – think Rosemary Beach but in North Carolina. There are so many shops, a spa, and multiple restaurants so there’s no need to leave the whole weekend (insert praise hands emoji slash / where is my robe?) We got there right at dusk just in time to treat ourselves to some wine from the Goat restaurant and a front row seat to the sunset in the adirondack chairs.
When we arrived in our room there was classical music playing with chocolates to greet us…. best reception ever. We got ready for dinner and strolled 30 yards over to the Granery. Amy and I have had brunch there multiple times but I had never tried their dinner menu. In the words of Rachel Zoe: “I die” – the food was incredible and so was the ambiance. After our 5 star dinner we came back to our room to find port in a decanter for a night cap. Well played Fearrington.. Cheers 🙂
We took full advantage of the long mornings with eggs benedict cooked to perfection and coffee at every turn – is there anything better? And it wouldn’t be a girls weekend without a spa day so we treated ourselves to 90 minute massages because neither one of us had ever had one that long and we’ve heard they are life changing…. I’m happy to report that they are. Spas are one of my favorite things in the world. I always feel refreshed after sipping hot tea and smelling mint for a few hours. Ahhhhh I’m dreaming about it now. After I felt like jello in the best way, we had lunch at the Goat by the fountain outside followed by raspberry gelato.
In a nut shell, it was one of my favorite weekends ever. Good girlfriends are amazing and I feel so lucky to have a friend like Amy. Her husband is a resident too so she doesn’t give it a second thought when I want to treat a Wednesday like a Friday because of our husband’s weird schedules. We had so much fun and I’m already ready for another girlfriend staycation at this tucked away gem.
