Recently, for Sara’s birthday, we did a “makeover” on her closet. I came over one night and we separated her clothes into 3 piles: “keep”, “giveaway”, and “plato’s closet” (you take in an arm full of clothes and hope they offer you money on the spot). After that phase was completed, I would shop and get the dressing room ready at different stores – pulling things that were her size and that I thought she would like. After work, she would come with me to all of them and we would see what fit – her style, body, and budget. It was so much fun and made me feel like I was back working at Max Studio on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Ladies used to come in the store, look at me and say, “just pick me out some outfits”…. can you imagine!? (both saying that OR being told that). Um.. ok, I would mutter and then do my best to put them in something they HAD to buy. The pressure was similar, but this was so much more fun. When we finished with Sara’s closet, I thought my own closet needed a little “sprucing” so I got a pvc pipe, a few window curtain hooks (from home depot), and made a shoe rack.

I also put this pinterest idea to use: framing shopping bags and hanging them in your closet. I had old frames I wasn’t using around the “bellhaven bungalow,” and old shopping bags.
of course, the best part of it all was getting to spend time with my best cousin Sara! We took Nilla, Forrest, and Caroline for a walk tonight….
and ended it with a good sunset
p.s. the shoes in the first photo can be found here but they were a UAL (United Apparel Liquidators) find for $30… I didn’t know about UAL until recently, and if there is one near you it is worth checking out.
