Santa Monica palm trees right at sunset
gorgeous fuchsia bogenvilla in full bloom and around every corner in California
seeing fond old memories around every corner too
remembering my old running route and imagining Marissa Cooper being in that lifeguard stand
a pink and mint green paint job that hasn’t changed since we lived here
coming home to the cutest two faces in the world – the David and Nilla cuddle pic – go Liverpool!
riding in to Birmingham, Alabama and being greeted by this orange sky of a sunset
What a week. It was so much fun taking a trip to California and a stroll down memory lane. The “we” I’m referring to in all the pictures is my friend Lindsey Brown. She and I are sorority sisters and spent a summer in Santa Monica together in college. How crazy is it that the first time I’ve been back to visit California since that summer happens to be the weekend before her wedding!? I loved seeing the places we used to eat and the thrift stores we used to frequent.
When I drove out there with her (yes we drove from Mississippi) we packed all sundresses thinking “California is SO HOT” hahahaha. We absolutely froze the first night there and piled on ALL of our “summer scarves” to try to stay warm. We then promptly went out the next day and bought sweaters for the cool nights. We were also there when Michael Jackson passed away. Such a sad day! They interrupted our program (which I’m pretty sure was America’s Next Top Model), to notify us of his passing. We couldn’t believe it and neither could any of our neighbors. Within minutes Michael Jackson songs were blaring from every rooftop and every restaurant along the Santa Monica Board Walk.
I loved that apartment with the rooftop. I always tell David I want us to visit California one day (he’s never been) and stay at Venice Suites.
Sorry for the long stroll down memory lane, but it was the perfect kick off of her wedding celebrations that start today! I’m so happy for her and can’t wait to see everyone this weekend!
I hope you have something fun planned and thank you SO MUCH for reading 🙂
