celebrating four years of marriage with a candlelit dinner at home
David had to work on our anniversary yesterday but the day actually felt like a representation of where we are now. He left at 6:00, got home at 9:00 – saving lives and what not, while I tackled some of the moving “to-do’s” on our list. I loved that we just ate in on the Juliska Berry and Thread plates I picked out four years ago, and still love, and the Annie Glass we received as wedding gifts. The candlesticks were my grandmothers and the table was built by one of our friends in residency. It’s absolutely my “forever” table – I just need more chairs! haha We had a bottle of wine from The Biltmore – one of our first trips we took after moving to North Carolina. I couldn’t help but think that this is kind of what marriage is – two people creating a place and space that harbors comfort, respect, and love. No matter what friends or places come and go, you hold each other paramount and create a life and a home together. It’s been an incredible four years. Somehow this anniversary seems a bit more weighty than the others. Maybe because it’s bigger number, maybe it’s because we are about to move. Whatever the reason, these past four years have undoubtedly been the best ones of my life. Marriage has surpassed my expectations at every turn and I’m so thankful I got to marry David.
What’s on your agenda for the weekend? David’s residency class is having an “end of residency” celebratory dinner tonight and then the weekend is pretty open! Just how I like it. Right now I’m still in my robe and about to binge watch the good wife and answer emails. While sipping coffee and cuddling with Nilla of course. A dream Friday morning indeed. Oh my gosh I almost forgot! Delsey was so overwhelmed with y’all’s participation in the luggage giveaway that they are kind of making everyone a winner and making their Chalet luggage – the white or chocolate – SEVENTY PERCENT OFF. YUP! If you type in “LC20” at checkout then the Large ($660) will now be $264, the medium ($600) will now be $240 and the carry-on ($500) will be $200 – so if you have EVER wanted that luggage or need new luggage, now is definitely the time to do it!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend and thank you so much for reading!
