Summer Shorts

September 2, 2015

shorts (c/o) // top // sunnies (c/o) similar here // shoes

Alright let’s real talk for a second here … I probably definitely wouldn’t wear these heels with these shorts in real life. But they are what I had with me and there was daylight and Amy was with me and could  take these pics, so I did what I had to do to show you these shorts. They are eerily similar to the oh-so-popular rag and bone shorts. But I mean… who wants to pay 200 dolars for a pair of ripped blue jean shorts? No one that’s who. It’s like someone wanting to use 87 characters for a password…. you just don’t do it.
I’m also obsessed with these sunnies. They remind me of celines with the dots 🙂 They are from Ditto which gives you designer sunglasses for $19 a month and you trade them out whenever you want. It’s like Netflix for your face! Although, I’m getting ready to trade these for a new pair and you get the new pair BEFORE you send the old ones in sooooooooooooo in that way it’s BETTER than Netflix. Boo ya. They are letting readers try it FO FREE when you pick out which ones you want and use code Sunshades at checkout. So what do you have to lose? I guess the sunglasses – don’t lose the sunglasses. So yeah, just do this if you take care of your stuff.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful hump day 🙂

This weekend was a very big weekend. I loaded up Friday morning and made the drive to Birmingham Alabama for my sisters baby shower – the first baby on the Cobb side (my side) of the family. I couldn’t be happier for my sis and can’t wait to meet this kid in November (Thomas Wilson is his name). I wonder if he will have red hair like his dad or brown hair like his mom. Either way he is definitely already so loved. While we are on the baby topic I also met Grace this weekend – my best friend’s first baby. She is perfect and precious and so little and cute just like her mother.
I don’t like traveling this far without David. I miss him. He packs for me because that is one of his many talents – he can fit so much in a small bag by fitting it together like a puzzle. He’s doing weird and terrible 30 hour shifts these days and I feel like we are hit or miss seeing eachother … and lately it’s been more misses. Anyway, I’m looking forward to going home tomorrow and listening to Maneater the whole way back. I listened to Runaway Jury on the way down. Man Eater, as one might expect, is a little less critically acclaimed in the literary department but has already made me burst out laughing multiple times in the car. It’s ridiculous. And hysterical. So between that book on tape and a few road snacks such as, but not limited to: skittles, chex mix, and popcorn…. I’m a happy camper.
Ok let’s talk about these clothes real quick – machine washable? YES!!! That’s what I’m talkin’ about. I love a great silk top as much as the next gal… but the dry cleaning errand running / bill paying is just not my favorite. Also, I love that this designer is in New Orleans – I can’t believe it’s been exactly ten years since Katrina. That city has cleaned, rallied, and rebuilt. The fact that this designer lives there makes me love wearing this dress even more. I love that city. It wasn’t that far when we lived in Mississippi and we used to go more often. David took me on a surprise trip there for my 27th BDay. Back to these clothes –  I am literally obsessed with these bracelets. They pair really well with David Yurman (and are way easier to get on), plus they add a little sparkle 🙂
SO….. while I’m in the talking mood… which never really happens on here, I’d like to give a life update. Those of you from the South know exactly what I’m talking about when I refer to “the questions” – I’m not hating on them at all and in my “older and wiser” years know that people are more or less just making conversation but here goes anyway:
David and I have been married for 2 years and live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina because that is where he matched into Internal Medicine for his residency. I love it there. It’s so beautiful (like Oxford, MS but on steroids), and we have just finished the first year of his 3 year residency. So two more to go… then he thinks he wants to do a fellowship (which means specialty and I literally didn’t know that until last year) – we aren’t sure in what yet. He is thinking gastroenterology (I definitely just googled how to spell that), cardiology (I didn’t have to google that one) or maybe allergy and immunology. I think all those are 3 more years after we finish these two. But I honestly don’t know because it’s just such a long road and I guess I just don’t want to spend so much time counting down to “finished” and miss the now. Because the now is pretty special and if it’s one thing I’ve learned from visiting the town I grew up in this weekend it’s that time marches on…. (my grandmother is probably cringing that I just ended a sentence with a preposition) p.s. my grandmother is on instagram. Let that marinate for a second…………………… boom. yeah she’s that with the times.
Oh, and to continue with “the questions” (maybe I’ll just put all this in my bio) I was an attorney in Mississippi before we moved to North Carolina but I don’t know if I want to take the bar in North Carolina since we may just be there for two more years. And the bar, to me, is more akin to eating a cactus than taking a test… so that’s still up in the air. I think maybe it would be worth it to take if we were staying in North Carolina for 5 years. I’ll eat a cactus for 5 years.. I won’t do it for two – and since it’s only offered twice a year it’s more like 1 1/2 now. For now I’m working at Duke medical school helping with their re-accreditation process. When I first started I said: “can’t y’all just say you’re Duke” – seems legit enough to me. haha
I used to think I had to have an answer to “those questions” – if I could go back and talk to my 21 year old self I would tell her that people are just trying to make conversation with you.. so just enjoy the party and the people at it.
Hope your Monday is short and productive and thank you so much for reading 🙂
